Gill St. Bernards School visits MIRTHE

Seventy 9th graders from Gill St. Bernards School in Gladstone, NJ, visited MIRTHE in two groups on October 28 and 30, 2008. Dr. Gail Van Ekeren, physics teacher at Gill St. Bernards, and MIRTHE students and faculty at Princeton teamed up to bring engineering as a possible career choice closer to the students. The students toured the MIRTHE labs, as well as the PRISM Imaging and Analysis center and the PRISM Micro- and Nanofabrication facilities. After lunch, students participated in a fun competition and quiz about what they had learnt throughout the day. Visiting the cleanroom – and suiting up in dust-proof cleanroom suits – proved the students’ favorite activity, followed by seeing the high resolution microscopes and learning about infrared spectroscopy.
