Trace Gas Monitoring at the New York City, Princeton, or Houston Testbeds
1. Ammonia plays critical roles in atmospheric aerosol particles, but a lack of widespread measurements is impeding our ability to understand how particles influence global climate change. To this end, new advances in quantum cascade lasers offer unprecedented opportunities to measure ammonia in the atmosphere.
2. Study of aerosols in urban environments application of remote sensing to study of aerosols, with an eye towards the potential application of open-path MIR technology to study aerosol characteristics.
3. Study of trace gases in urban environments. This research project will focus of design of an open-path QCL based system for ambient monitoring Ozone and Ammonia.

Student research on the role of the urban environments in extreme thunderstorm evolution.
